Confex clinches expansion funding
A wholesale trading company is moving from Oxfordshire to a larger site in Gloucestershire after securing a funding package.
Confex is to move to a 6,000 sq ft premises at the Cotswold Business Village in Morton-in-Marsh from its headquarters on Cromwell Business Park Chipping Norton after clinching funding from HSBC's South West Midlands commercial team.
The new premises will allow the business, which is a national wholesale trading group, to accommodate future expansion.
The company trades in products such as confectionery, drinks and other convenience products on behalf of more than 300 businesses. This includes wholesalers, cash and carry and food service companies and vending operators.
It has 18 members of staff and deals with more than 190 suppliers. Confex has a turnover of almost £8m.
Managing director Nicky White said: "This move represents the next step in our growth strategy and will give us the space and modern facilities required to take the business forward.
"We have been located at Chipping Norton for 12 years and have achieved a great deal at this location. We are extremely excited about this move for our business and for our members."
HSBC senior commercial manager Paul Witter added: "Confex is a well-established business that recognises the importance of continuing to invest over the economic cycle to achieve growth. These modern facilities give the company the capacity to accommodate future growth and continue to meet the needs of its members."

Confex was founded in 1972 by sweet manufacturer Julian Loffet and is now headed up by White, his daughter.
Ed: I suppose it will keep those who want to keep Chippy in the  dark ages happy.
