Whether you like Jeremy Clarkson or not you cannot fail to
admire him for being patriotic, In one of the most recent episodes of TOP GEAR
he showed large swathes of Spain in a state of decay, new build empty and
unfinished all thanks to huge loans from the EU, he staged a race in supercars
around empty Spanish streets just showing what parts of Spain is really like.
I would suspect it is
in response to Spain's actions over
closing the border between Spain and Gibraltar over sheer spite, so if anyone was quick and noticed
in last night's episode of TOP GEAR at the end where he was celebrating the success
of British engineering by showing a map of the world where British engineering
was sold, France and Spain were omitted, as
everyone knows France hates us as much as Spain does, (must be something to do
with Waterloo and the Spanish Amada). The most recent revelation is now Spain wants
to get even more spiteful by charge 60 euro's a day to cross the border between Spain and Gibraltar.
Can't see me going to Spain in the near future.I suspect Jeremy and TOP GEAR must have known the following program Das Auto: The Germans, Their Cars And Us presented by another Chippy resident Dominic Sandbrook was being aired, it showed the rise of the German car manufacturing while ours was in decline, I was disappointed it didn't show the influence British engineering has on Germany in particular the Mercedes Formula One racing team, what many don't know is as well as Mercedes being based in Brackley the Mercedes engines are also British made.
With so many German companies like Mercedes and Volkswagen owning British brands (like Rolls Royce & Bentley) they have great faith in British Engineering, in essence the program of failure of the British car industry was down to the antiquated and mismanagement of the industry, as the Germans in WW2 said Britain, a nation of Lions led by Donkeys.
