You've got to be kidding!
I couldn't help noticing the
following court cases in Banbury recently, all but one involved in motoring
offences with everyone copping fines and costs in excess of £300, and yet,
smack a copper and you get let off and told to behave yourself. Makes you sick!

BANBURY
Ian Murray, 23, of Boxhedge Road West, Banbury, admitted
assaulting PC Victoria Channon in the execution of her duty in Chipping Norton
on July 7 and stealing a Bluetooth kit and vehicle documents in Chipping Norton
on July 6. Given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months with a
12-month supervision requirement, an activity requirement and 100 hours of
unpaid work. Told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
Madeleine Wright, 27, of Redwing Close, Bicester, admitted
breaking a 50mph speed limit in Eastern Bypass Road near Oxford on February 10. Fined
£285 and told to pay a £29 victims’ surcharge and £65. Given six points on
his driving licence.
Adam Whittaker, 31, of Greenfields, Upper Arncott, near
Bicester, convicted of failing to hand over his ticket for inspection on a
train on a journey between Birmingham Snow Hill and Bicester on April 17. Fined £200 and
told to pay £17.10 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £125 costs.
Ian Gibbons, 41, of Vanner Road, Witney, admitted breaking a
30mph speed limit in Witney Road, Standlake, on January 8. Fined £260 and
told to pay a £26 victims’ surcharge and £65 costs. Given six points on driving
licence.
Nuno Arcanjo, 31, of Rymers Lane, Oxford, convicted of not
having proper insurance in Oxford on March 20. Fined £200 and told to
pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £110 costs.
Mark Slingsby, 47, of Rectory Close, Marsh Gibbon, near
Bicester, admitted fishing without a licence at Brasenose Lakes, Linear
Fisheries, on April 27. He was fined £200 and told to pay a £20
victims’ surcharge. He must also pay £127 costs.
Phillip Hall, 26, of Sibford Gower, Banbury, admitted
travelling on a train without paying a fare of £4.50 between Bicester North and
Banbury on April 19. Fined £230 and told to pay £4.50 compensation, a
£23 victims’ surcharge and £125 costs.
