CHIPPING Norton ace Alice Powell produced an F3 Cup win out of another problematic meeting.
At Belgium’s Zolder circuit, tests showed the 20-yearold’s car was still not ready after problems at Brands Hatch.
She had 25 minutes of practice in a spare and went into qualifying, managing third on the grid despite gear trouble.
For race one, a stuck solid gear cable meant Powell had to start from the pit lane yet battled up the field to fourth.
She lined up third for race two and overtook front-runner Alex Craven to claim her fifth victory of the season, maintaining her drivers’ championship lead.
Powell said: “I did have a bit of luck with the drivers in front of me making small errors but you need some in this sport.”
The next round is at Brands Hatch on July 27 and 28.
