Chipping Norton racing driver Alice Powell, who is hoping to break into Formula 1, arrived back from India after visiting the country with Prime Minister David Cameron as part of a UK trade mission.
Ms Powell, 20, flew out to India with the PM and more than 100 delegates to promote UK motorsport and was the youngest person to take part in the UK trade mission.
Speaking after the trip, Ms Powell said: “It’s really opened my eyes to new thinking and new ideas. It was a very busy few days and it was non-stop for us delegates.
“I was doing a lot of networking and promoting my current sponsors as well as women in sport and British motorsport.”
Ms Powell arrived in Mumbai before the Prime Minister addressed delegates with a welcome talk. She then visited consumer goods company Hindustan Unilever before attending a conference at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalays Museum, hosted by BP. She went to an early Queen’s birthday party at the British High Commission in New Delhi.
Ms Powell is still looking for sponsors for her journey into Formula 1.
