CO-OP BUILDING WORK TO START SOON!
Plans to extend the Co-op are expected to start before Christmas, District Manager Bob Richens expect the project to take about 18 months, with a new two story car park, demolition should start before Christmas. Construction of the store should take about 8 months with fitting out a further two. Deputy Mayor Mike Tysoe said:  We’re going to get more car parking spaces which will encourage a lot more people into the centre of Town.” However the relocation of the post office, pharmacy and travel agent into the enlarged store, leaving three empty shops, was a worry to some councillors  said Cllr Alex Corfield.
Ed: Looks like finally some of the councillors have finally woken up, all be it too late, with the post office, pharmacy and travel agents going in store the High Street will have three more empty shops, and what if they kick out Nash's and close the arcade to enlarge Beales as they proposed? Those who believe this expansion will benefit Chipping Norton couldn't be more wrong. With the expanded store offering a bigger selection  and taking a bigger slice of what business there is in Chipping Norton then more shops will close, many shops will have us believe business is tight then if so if they loose just 10% of their trade then it's goodbye Chippy!
