Chipping Norton is getting money and business
support from the Government to boost local trade in the town.
The town is getting ten thousand pounds, the money will be used by a consortium of local businesses called Experience Chipping Norton to promote the town and to try and bring in new visitors.
Ed: Had the council supported the Sainsbury's application Sainsbury's would have had to give (as part of the 106 agreement) towards the local community a considerable amount of money in excess of £250,000.00. Sainsburys opted to spend this money on road improvements at the junction of London,Banbury and Over Norton road, which will now not happen. Had the council actually met with Sainsbury's there could have been a contribution to the Town Hall roof or even asked for money towards the town centre development.
