Revised plans for Chippy care home development slammed by councillors

REVISED
plans for a Chipping Norton care home which was to house residents from the
soon to be demolished Churchill House in Hailey Road were criticised by
residents and town councillors at a meeting on Monday.
As
reported in last week’s Banbury Guardian, 13 residents are to be moved
from Churchill House by April 2013 so the building can be demolished. Owner
Cottsway Housing had intended to offer them places in the newly-built Vernon
House in Burford Road, but although a planning application for 21 flats was
approved in 2010, work has not started at the site and a recently submitted revised
application for 24 flats is already facing strong criticism from residents and
councillors.
Councillor Alex Corfield
described the new design as a “gross invasion of privacy” because of its 24
windows at first floor level which he said would overlook nearby houses. A
letter of objection was also received from a resident who said the development
would lead to “overlooking” and a “loss of privacy.”
